What is the difference between Cryste Marine Firming Serum and Kiehl Kiehl Cryste Marine Research Mouturizer?

I'm trying to figure out the difference and have heard several things. The first is that it's just a different consistency. But then a salesman told me that the serum is simply a booster of the effect of the lotion but doesn't dramitizes mousturing property itself, so you should have both. What is the difference and how can you use them?
